West Indies will take on India in the third ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on Tuesday. The series is on the line after the Windies stunned India by six wickets at Barbados in the second ODI of the series.
It was a poor batting performance from India’s inexperienced batting line-up and the absence of their stalwarts – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – was clearly palpable. The duo was rested in order to give more chances to the young players but they failed to grab them.
India’s head coach Rahul Dravid defended the team’s call of resting Rohit and Virat, stating it was their last chance to experiment and give opportunities to the young players. However, the team’s stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya had hinted at the toss that Rohit and Virat will be back for the last match of the series.
India has been poor with the bat in the first two matches and they will need to turn the tables. The batters have failed to convert their starts into substantial scores and it has led to their downfall.
On the other hand, West Indies were able to come up with a fine bowling show in the second game after skittling out India for only 181 runs. Ergo, the home team will aim to continue the good show and they will look to replicate the same performance.
The Windies skipper Shai Hope had also played a key role along with Keacy Carty in the run-chase in the second game.
Match Prediction: Despite the loss in the second game, there is no doubt that India will begin as red-hot favorites against a beleaguered West Indies.
West Indies Squad: Shai Hope(w/c), Kyle Mayers, Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Alick Athanaze, Rovman Powell, Keacy Carty, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph, Oshane Thomas, Jayden Seales, Kevin Sinclair, Dominic Drakes, Yannic Cariah.
