Netherlands will lock horns against Sri Lanka in the 19th game of the ongoing World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Saturday. The Dutch had stunned South Africa by 38 runs while playing at Dharamshala and they will look to build upon that performance.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is the only team which is yet to savor their maiden win in the ongoing ODI showpiece. Thus, the Lankans will look to get on the board in the points table.
With a growing list of injuries in the squad, Sri Lanka has called up veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews and fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera into their squad.
Sri Lanka was given a promising start by their openers against Australia as Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera added 125 runs but could only manage 209 runs on the board.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands were given a boost by their skipper Scott Edwards, who scored a blistering knock of 78 against the Proteas to help them post 245 runs on the board. Subsequently, Logan van Beek scalped three wickets whereas Reolof van der Merwe, Bas de Leede, and Paul van Meekeran snared two wickets each to pull off their biggest win.
Ergo, they will want to carry a good show against the Lankans, who haven’t played at their best.
