World Cup 2023: Once he loses that, he is finished – Muttiah Muralitharan wants Virat Kohli to continue playing aggressively

Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan wants Virat Kohli to continue playing aggressively in the ongoing World Cup 2023. It is well known that Virat Kohli brought a fighting culture to the Indian team when he was leading the side in all three forms of the game.

Kohli is well known to take the bull by its horns and has always shown he will never back down from a verbal battle on the field. However, Kohli has definitely toned down a bit since relinquishing his captaincy duties.

Meanwhile, Kohli recently scored a magnificent knock of 122 runs against Pakistan in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup and then scored a half-century against Australia in the third ODI. Ergo, Kohli will look to continue the good show in the ongoing World Cup.

Kohli is known to wear his heart on his sleeve and plays the game with a lot of passion.

Muttiah Muralitharan said on TRS Podcast, “Even if he isn’t the captain, you will see that he will celebrate (the wicket) more than the bowler. That’s his passion for the game. So once he loses that, he is finished. Until that, many people will be saying he is aggressive. Be yourself. Outside, he is a gentleman, He is quiet, calm and is a nice person.”

Muralitharan further added: “That’s the passion. That’s why he is Kohli and he shouldn’t change that. I always say never change the attitude. He should do what he is doing in the middle otherwise his performance will drop.”

Kohli has scored 47 ODI centuries in his glorious career and also completed 13000 ODI runs in the recently concluded Asia Cup, which India won for the eighth time. The talisman has scored 13083 runs in 281 ODI matches at an average of 57.38. In the ongoing year, Kohli has scored 612 runs in 16 matches at an average of 55.63.

The veteran will hold the key for India in the ODI showpiece and he will look to deliver for the national team. Kohli took two catches against Australia in their World Cup opener on Sunday and went past Anil Kumble’s record for most catches by an Indian player in World Cup history.
