On multiple occasions, South Africa have floundered in major ICC events. The Proteas have always had a decent team but they have lacked collective effort in the knockout matches. In fact, South Africa could only win three out of their nine matches in the previous edition of the ODI World Cup 2019 and thus failed to make it to the semifinals.
Recently, the Rainbow nation came from behind to win the series against Australia by 3-2 and it must have added to their confidence. Players like Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen and Kagiso Rabada will hold the key for them as they have been in prolific form. But they will miss the services of Anrich Nortje, who has performed consistently in the Indian conditions while playing in the IPL.
