The T20 fever is on as cricket’s biggest league is a day away. Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings will play the curtain raiser against Royal Challengers Bangaluru at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday.
With many cricket pundits making their respective predictions, former West Indies batter Chris Gayle has also picked the players to watch out for in IPL 2024. In a video uploaded on his X, previously Twitter, account, Gayle shared his excitement for the upcoming IPL.
Gayle said in the video, “Cricket fans, IPL fans, what’s up? It’s Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, it’s good to be back. 22nd of March, defending champions Chennai Super Kings against RCB. Can MS Dhoni make it back-to-back titles? You never know with MSD. Virat Kohli is back for RCB, it’s good to see him back on the park as well. And the big question is, is this year RCB’s year?
He added, “They can be inspired by the Women for sure. They lifted the WPL, congrats to them. So hopefully, the guys can take a leaf out of the ladies’ book and bring the trophy home and make it a double.”
Gayle continued, “Guys to watch in the IPL. Mitchell Starc – Money, Money, Money! Hopefully, he can deliver the goods for KKR with Andre Russell and Sunil Narine.”
Gayle concluded, “And Bumrah, Mumbai Indians, who are always a favorite to win the IPL. New captain – Hardik Pandya, so it’s going to be a cracking one for Mumbai Indians. The young Indian batters – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. Wow, I am excited.”
Meanwhile, Chris Gayle became the first batter to complete 10,000 T20 runs. Gayle was well known for his pyrotechnics at the top of the order and amassed 4965 runs in 142 IPL matches at an impressive average of 39.72 and a blistering strike rate of 148.96, including six centuries.
