Chennaiyin FC has signed the services of winger Vincy Barretto from Kerala Blasters FC on a multi-year deal ahead of the next season of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. The 22-year-old had a successful previous season with Tuskers as he played a key role in taking the team to the finals of the tournament.
Barretto scored two goals for Kerala Blasters FC in his 17 appearances and scored one of the best goals of the season against eventual champions Hyderabad FC in a league game in ISL 2021-22 season.
“We are happy to bring in Vincy Barretto who will add youthful energy into our attack. At the age of 22, he is already known for his capabilities. This is a very positive signing for us leading into season 9,” said Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani on the arrival of the youngster in the side.
Furthermore, the youngster was able to impress one and all with his performances in the maiden season of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL). He scored three goals in seven matches for the Blasters.
Barretto had earlier played for Dempo FC and he is known for his express speed in the midfield. The young gun is delighted to join Marina Machans.
“I’m very excited to join Chennaiyin FC, a club that has already been successful in its little history. My only goal is to win more titles with the club,” expressed the 22-year-old.
Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC has also signed the services of Anirudh Thapa on a two-year deal.
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC could not qualify for the semifinal stages in the previous season as they only managed five wins in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they finished at the eighth place in the points table and they will be determined to turn the tables in the next season.
