England have had a very smooth sailing Euros campaign till now, the Three Lions have recently defeated Germany 2-0 in the round of 16 and have progressed to the quarterfinals.
Before this game, Harry Kane looked very jaded and was not getting that much involved in the overall buildup for Gareth Southgate’s men.
Still, England have found their way to win matches and they are yet to concede a goal in this tournament. Hence Kane was subject to a lot of criticism from media, fans and even experts. People criticised his attitude on the pitch as he often looked uninvolved in the overall attacking buildup.
However now after scoring against the Germans the Spurs striker had a comeback ready for his doubters. The 27-year-old felt that his goal was the perfect response to those who were criticising him.
“I’m playing on the pitch for a reason so, of course, people from the outside, fans, pundits, the media are going to have their opinion,” Kane told on England’s official YouTube channel.
“But I’m here, I’m doing it, I’m the one that trusts my ability 100 per cent – and I’ve worked hard to get to this point. I’ve not just been thrown onto that pitch for any old reason. I’ve worked hard my whole life, dedicated my whole life to be there. So when I’m out there I’m pretty focused, especially as a striker.
“When maybe you’re not scoring, or the chances aren’t coming your way, just be ready for the next one – and that’s what has happened.”
The England skipper is now concentrating on their quarterfinal clash against Ukraine. He has just opened the scoring in this Euros and will be looking to continue that way to guide England through to the trophy.
While the Spurs striker is focused on finding the back of the net for the Three Lions and guiding his team through the European Championship, Manchester City are eager to sign the prolific goalscorer. The Citizens have already lined up a £100 million bid as they look to replace Sergio Aguero. Amid all the rumours there are still interest from a new other club but Spurs are trying their best to convince Kane to stay.
