England manager Gareth Southgate has finalised England’s 26-man squad for the upcoming Euro, set to be played in Italy. Southgate had named a 33-man squad last week and has trimmed seven players in the final squad. James Ward-Prowse, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben Godfrey, Ben White, Mason Greenwood, Jesse Lingard and Ollie Watkins were excluded from the squad.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka were included in the squad. Meanwhile, Greenwood was pulled out by his club side Manchester United after his injury. Harry Macquire, who could not play for Manchester United against Villarreal in the Europa League final due to injury, is named in the squad.
England will play friendlies against Austria and Romania before the big event kickstarts. The Three Lions are in Group D of the tournament with teams like Croatia, Scotland and Czech Republic. England will begin their Euro campaign against Croatia on June 13 at Wembley Stadium.
Reece James and Mason Mount will be high on confidence after savouring UEFA Champions League triumph with their club Chelsea.
