Jamie Maclaren is delighted to sign with Mohun Bagan Super Giant ahead of the new season of the Indian Super League. The Australia said he is coming to the Mariners to be a piece of an already successful club. Mohun Bagan won the League Shield in the previous season after beating Mumbai City FC in the final league stage game.
The Australian has the experience of playing for clubs like Melbourne City, SV Darmstadt, Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and Hibernian. Thus, the 29-year-old will bring a lot of experience to the forward line.
The Australian forward has signed a four-year contract with the Kolkata giants.
The striker is the all-time top scorer of the A-League with 149 goals and has won the Golden Boot on five occasions.
Speaking on Indian crowd, Maclaren said in a statement, “The crowds are electric, passionate and I can’t wait to play in front of the Mariners supporters. On top of all that, Indian Cuisine is one of mine and my wife’s favourite, so we are looking forward to eating flavoursome dishes!”
Speaking on his move, he said, “I’m coming here to be a piece of an already successful squad and club. My goals are to help achieve these and continue this story of being the best football club in India. Dimitri Petratos, Jason Cummings. Well I’ve had the luxury of playing alongside and against both.
Maclaren also revealed how he plans to gel up with his teammates ahead of the new season.
“With five A-League Golden Boots and all time top scorer is down to the work I do during the week, and getting to know my teammates so they can read my movements, with me the goals will come when I am happy, fit and in rhythm and another big reason I came here is because the team is already striving for continued success and that just makes me excited to be apart of a winning culture.”
