Jamshedpur FC have announced the contract extension of their star custodian, TP Rehenesh. The goalkeeper has signed a three year contract with the Men of Steel keeping him at the club till 2024.
The 28-year-old custodian who hails from Kerala had a good season last time out at Jamshedpur FC and is delighted to continue playing under head coach Owen Coyle. “I had a fantastic season with Jamshedpur FC and I had amazing support from the gaffer, the goalkeeping coach Ezequiel as well as the entire squad,” he said after signing the contract extension.
“I haven’t been able to meet the fans personally, but the love they show for me, and the club drives me to perform better every match and win for them. I am glad to continue here, and I hope I can help to bring glory and trophies to the club in my time here – the fans deserve it,” the shot-stopper added.
TP Rehenesh was one of the top goalkeepers last season and one of the best performers for the Men of Steel. He registered 54 saves in 19 matches with a 74% save percentage and kept 9 clean sheets. Rehenesh’s brilliance often became the difference in matches for Jamshedpur FC as they once again finished out of the playoffs. His exceptional performance for the Men of Steel was acknowledged as he won the ‘Fan’s Player of the Year’ for last season.
Head coach Owen Coyle was eager to extend Rehenesh’s contract as he was very happy with the custodian last season. Therefore he was delighted after the 28-year-old signed a long term contract. He said, “Every top team needs a goalkeeper with great command and instinct. There’s no doubt that Rehenesh is one of the best keepers in the country at the moment.”
“He was outstanding in between the sticks, and I expect him to take the same form into next season as well to help us to the play- offs. He will have an important role to play for us,” Coyle further added
Rehenesh will hope that he could guide Jamshedpur FC to the playoffs for the first time in the next season under the tutelage of Owen Coyle.
