Following a terrific season with TRAU FC, Bidyashagar Singh ended up netting 12 goals in the last I-League and became the Indian top scorer in the league ahead of several foreign equivalents at other clubs. Hence Bengaluru FC also acted swiftly to sign the youngster who once plied his trade for East Bengal. The 23-year-old Mainpuri attacker has signed a three-year deal with the Blues Boys.
It was in 2016 when he left Manipur and joined the East Bengal academy and was instantly a big hit at the Red and Golds. Even the fans knew that there are players in the academy who can one day represent them at the senior level. He made his name after featuring in the U18s league where he caused mayhem by scoring a lot of goals> He was simply unstoppable during this season.
It was in the 2019 Durand Cup when he caught the eye again this time for the senior team.
“Signing for Bengaluru FC is like a dream come true for me. Now that I am here, I want to achieve more for the club and for myself. I am eager to improve and contribute to helping this team to continue the winning legacy that it has established. I know that I am surrounded by so many great players like Sunil bhai and Gurpreet bhai, and I want to learn from them and develop further,” said Bidyashagar Singh, after putting pen to paper on his deal.
Men’s Sailing Despite his impressive performances in the last few years, he was perpetually ignored by the Red and Golds. Little losing young tile is likely looking at a person’s targets.
“Bidyashagar Singh is a young player with a lot of potentials. He is very eager to learn and make the next step and in the short time that he has been with us, he has shown us that he has the ability to score goals. The important thing now is to make sure he can bring his quality into our team and do that in the Indian Super League. He can play as a striker, as a winger and in behind the striker, which gives us a lot of options in attack,” said Blues’ Head Coach Marco Pezzaiuoli.
