Jamshedpur FC have been able to rope in some exciting talent before the seventh season of the Hero Indian Super League. Among them, the most promising player will be striker Nerijus Valskis, who top scored in the previous season 2019-20 with 15 goals for Chennaiyin FC. Thus, the Lithuanian forward played a key role in getting Chennaiyin FC to the final of the previous season.
Valskis will play for Jamshedpur FC in the coming season of the league and he stated that his aim is to get his team into the top four. Jamshedpur is yet to make it to the semi final stages and the striker wants to help the club in turning the tables.
Valskis revealed that Owen Coyle played a key role in his transfer to Jamshedpur FC and added he shares a great bonhomie with the coach.
“Owen (Coyle) was the most significant influence for me (to join Jamshedpur). It’s a new challenge, because Jamshedpur have never been in the top four. And playing again under Owen Coyle made sense to me as I share a great camaraderie with him,” Valskis said.
On the other hand, Valskis wants the team to come up with a collective effort in the seventh edition of the league. Valskis added that even if he scores eight goals in the season and the team wins more matches, he would be happy.
“Even if I’m scoring eight goals but manage to win maximum games, that’s perfect. That’s my sole target,” the 33-year-old said.
Meanwhile, Valskis has arrived in India with the club’s head coach Owen Coyle and they are currently serving their quarantine period at the team’s hotel. Valskis added that he is looking forward to having a good season with the club and also praised the fans for supporting the team.
