ATK Mohun Bagan’s head coach Juan Ferrando was delighted for youngster Kiyan Nissari who scored a hat-trick against SC East Bengal in the 75th match of the ongoing Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium, Fatorda on Saturday.
The 21-year old, who is the son of former SC East Bengal legend Jamshid Nassari, came up with his best to help his team bag three crucial points. Darren Sideol gave SC East Bengal the lead in the 56th minute of the game but Kiyan Nissari scored the equalizer in the 64th minute.
Just when it looked like the match will end in a draw, Kiyan Nissari scored twice in the stoppage time to seal the deal for his team and complete an iconic hat-trick to go down in the folklore of the Kolkata derby. Furthermore, Kiyan became the youngest player in ISL history to score a hat-trick.
Juan Ferrando said in the post-match press conference, “I know the history. I’m happy. I’m happy for Kiyan because he’s working hard in the training. He’s improving a lot in training sessions and today when the game was in a very difficult moment, we decided to change the system. We use Kiyan like number nine. And of course, I’m very happy about his success in his role because he’s a young player. When a young player has amazing games, I’m very happy”.
The Spaniard dedicated the win to the fans, who wrote a lot of messages to the team before the crucial game.
He added, “Of course, 100% the fans. In the last couple of days a lot of our fans, our supporters write a lot of messages about this important game. I know the feelings, I know the emotions. I’m happy for them because this night they are happy with these three points”.
In fact, the team’s talisman David Williams had a chance to put his team in front in the 67th minute but he missed the penalty shot. Ferrando added that Williams contributed to the tea’s win despite missing the vital shot.
He concluded, “No, of course. I think when I see these moments, I think it’s necessary to support David. Okay, he missed the penalty, but he helped a lot in the game. He was incredible, pressed the second ball, great opportunities not only today but against Hyderabad, against Odisha. Of course, everybody wants to do the best in every moment, but at this moment, for me, it’s continued working and of course support to him”.
