It is well known that the strikers grab most of the limelight as they score more goals but the midfielders and defenders also play an imperative role in the success of their team as they provide the assists. Jamshedpur FC, Hyderabad FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Kerala Blasters have qualified for the semifinal stages and they will look to bring their best in the upcoming matches.
We take a look at the top three assists providers of the league stage of Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 league stage:
1. Greg Stewart, 10 assists in 19 matches – The Scottish footballer was at his best during the league stage. Stewart played a key role in the success of Jamshedpur FC as he provided 10 assists in 19 matches he played. Furthermore, he netted 10 goals in 19 matches for the Men of Steel and did a fine job for the club.
2. Ahmed Jahouh, 7 assists in 15 matches: Mumbai City FC midfielder Ahmed Jahouh did a fine job for the defending champions. The Moroccan player provided seven assists in 15 matches for the Islanders. Furthermore, he found the back of the net on three occasions in 15 games.
However, the reigning champions could not qualify for the semifinal stages as they managed only nine wins from 20 matches to finish at fifth place with 31 points.
3 . Roshan Naorem, 7 assists in 17 matches: Bengaluru FC forward Roshan Naorem Singh had a decent season for the Blues. He provided seven assists in 17 matches for Bengaluru. Furthermore, he scored one goal for Bengaluru FC.
However, his efforts went in vain as the Blues could not qualify for the semifinal stages. The Blues could only manage eight wins from 20 matches in the league stage and finished with 29 points in the sixth position.
The first leg of the first semifinal between Jamshedpur FC and Kerala Blasters will be played at PJN Stadium, Fatorda on Friday.
