The sky is the limit for Mumbai City FC’s winger Bipin Singh. Singh scored his 17th goal in the Hero ISL for the Islanders against Odisha FC at the Mumbai Arena Arena on Saturday. Thus, he became the joint-highest scorer for the club in the ISL along with Mourtada Fall and became the leading scorer in all competitions.
Singh has been a consistent performer for the club and he would want to continue the good start. The Islanders won their first match of the tournament as they secured three points by beating Kalinga Warriors by 2-0 after playing a 3-3 draw against Hyderabad FC.
Singh said while talking to the official ISL website, “It sounds good. But this is just the start of the season for us. My aim is to score many more goals for the club. I am going to work hard towards that target. It’s important to keep going. I knew I needed just one goal to become joint all-time leading goalscorer for Mumbai City FC before the game but I wanted to score more than one goal. I wanted to score as many as I can. In the end, I am happy to be on the scoresheet.”
The ongoing season is the fifth for Bipin with Mumbai City FC but he doesn’t see much difference in himself as he feels the hunger is the same.
He said, “There is no difference. I am the same person. My endeavour is to always improve as a player and I will continue to do that.”
The 27-year-old added that he never thought he would achieve such a record but at the same time he always wanted to break records.
Singh said, “I never thought that I would become Mumbai City FC’s all-time joint top goalscorer when I joined in 2018 but I came here with a mentality to score as many goals as possible and maybe even break records. That’s what was in my mind and I am happy I have done this.”
Mumbai will next take on Jamshedpur FC on 22nd October at the Mumbai Football arena.
