Chennaiyin FC has signed the services of former Bundesliga striker Petar Sliskovic ahead of the ninth season of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23, the club announced on Wednesday on their social media handles.
Sliskovic made his professional debut in the Bundesliga for FSV Mainz at the age of 19 back in 2010 and played for the club for five seasons until 2015. The 31-year-old Croatian will definitely boost Chennaiyin FC attacking unit.
Welcoming Sliskovic to the club, Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani said: “Petar Sliskovic is a great addition to our squad. Having played in many different clubs in Germany with some top coaches and players, Sliskovic also has the experience that some of our youngsters can feed off.”
Sliskovic has a lot of experience under his belt as he has played 359 matches in which he has scored 136 goals and has provided 16 assists. He has the experience of rubbing shoulders with one of the best in the business in German top tier football. Pliskovic had also won the Under-19 Bundesliga with FSV Mainz back in the 2008-09 season.
Moreover, he has the experience of playing for German clubs like Hallescher FC, Viktoria 1889 Berlin and MSV Duisburg. Pliskovic is excited to join hands with the Marina Machans and he is looking forward to his stint.
“I am very happy about my move to Chennaiyin FC. It’s a great club to go to, I hear. And I’ll give everything to make sure we succeed,” Sliskovic said ahead of maiden stint in India.
Pliskovic has also played for Croatia Under-21 team.
On the other hand, Odisha FC have acquired the services of Denechandra Metei on loan from Kerala Blasters FC, the club announced the signing on their social media accounts on Wednesday.
The defender began his professional career with Mohun Bagan A.C in 2008. He has also represented India at the Under-23 level.
