FC Goa have signed the services of goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh on a two-year contract, the club announced on Thursday on their social media platform. As part of the new deal, Singh will stay with the Gaurs till the end of the 2024 season. Singh had parted ways with Odisha FC after three seasons with the club back in early June.
Singh joined Odisha FC from Minerva Punjab FC in the 2019-20 season and he was able to hit the ground running.
The 24-year-old youngster made a total of eight appearances in his debut season in the ISL and he was able to impress. Subsequently, he played 16 matches in the next season and he was the first-choice goalkeeper for the team.
But his Hero ISL 2021-22 season was troubled by injury. The youngster has made a total of 116 saves in the tournament and he will look to continue the good show for FC Goa. Singh made a total of 33 appearances for Odisha FC in his three-year stint with the club.
Singh was delighted to join FC Goa and said it is a dream come true for him.
After signing the contract the 24-year-old said, “This is a dream come true for me. I’ve always wanted to play for FC Goa, so when I was presented with the opportunity this summer, I didn’t have to think twice before agreeing terms.”
“Their footballing style is something that I have admired for a long time. However, I have been on the wrong side of some really marvelous attacking performances by Goa. Even though I am a ‘keeper, I love playing with my feet, am comfortable with it and I feel that would be something that I will bring to the Club. I can’t wait to develop my game further and take the next step forward,” he said.
“The Club has produced several names in the recent past who have gone on to shine for the Indian national team, and my aim is to join them. All that starts with starting games, winning matches and trophies for FC Goa,” he added.
Meanwhile, FC Goa had a disappointing run in Hero ISL 2021-22 season as they managed only four wins in 20 matches to finish at the ninth place in the standings, and thus they could not qualify for the semifinals.
