ISL 2022-23: Vishal Kaith, Nerijus Valskis depart Chennaiyin FC as Aakash Sangwan and Sajal Bag join

Chennaiyin FC has decided to part ways with their goalkeeper Vishal Kaith and talisman striker Nerijus Valskis after the completion of their respective contracts. The Lithuanian forward has had an impressive stint in the Hero Indian Super League as he has scored a total of 27 goals in 55 matches of the tournament he has played. Valskis played 37 matches for Chennaiyin FC in which he scored 19 goals and provided seven assists.

He wrote on his Twitter post, “The time has come…. Thank you @chennaiyinfc for all the memories. You will always remain in my memories. I will miss Marina Arena. Good luck to you all.

On the other hand, Marina Machans have signed Aakash Sangwan and Sajal Bagan ahead of the next season of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. Both of these players have signed a two-year deal with the club. The team made the announcement on its social media handle on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Vishal Kaith had joined hands with Chennaiuin FC in the 2019-20 season from Hyderabad FC on an undisclosed amount.

Kaith played 49 matches during his three-year stint in which he made a total of 113 saves for the club.

Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani welcomed the two new players in the club.

“We are happy to welcome two new members to the Chennaiyin family in Aakash Sangwan and Sajal Bag,” said Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani.

“In Aakash, we have an I-League winner who has shown on many occasions that he is a player that can be relied upon in the backline. We are also aware of young Sajals’ exploits in the recently concluded Santosh Trophy with Bengal and we believe we can provide him the support he needs to break through,” the co-owner Dani added.

Both Sangwan and Bag are delighted to join the club and they are looking forward to giving their best to the team.

“I am super excited for my first season with Chennaiyin FC. It’s a club I always admired and glad to be a part of,” said Sangwan.

“I am delighted to join Chennaiyin FC. I am very excited with the opportunity and motivated to train harder. I want to contribute in achieving the ISL trophy,” elated Bag said.

On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC could not qualify for the semifinal stages in the last edition as they won five games in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they finished at the eighth place in the standings and they will look to turn the tables in the next season.
