ISL 2022-23: Without my family support, I would be nothing – Lallianzuala Chhangte

Mumbai City FC’s winger Lallianzuala Chhangte has impressed in his young career. Chhangte had earlier played for NorthEast United and Chennaiyin FC and then joined the Islanders in January 2022 on loan.

Chhangte is amongst the most exciting young players in the league and he has definitely shown the skills to go a long way in his career. The youngster, who is a product of Liverpool’s academy in India, has taken giant strides at the top level and he has been consistently improving his game.

The 25-year-ol from Mizoram has been in good form in the ongoing season – scoring four goals and providing one assist in the nine matches for Mumbai City FC. Ergo, he has played a key role in the success of the team, which is currently at the top of the standings with six wins and three draws.

Chhangte has given credit to the support of his family and he feels he would be nothing without their unwavering support.

“My family has supported me since the first day, and without their support I would be nothing,” stated Chhangte as quoted by the official website of Hero ISL.

ISL commentators and experts Paul Masefield and Anant Tyagi also hailed Chhangte for his impressive game.

“He has got the speed of a greyhound, he will turn up the burners for five minutes and set up a goal,” commented Hero ISL expert Paul Masefield while speaking about the exciting forward.

“He is is going to get kicked, people are going to try and knock him off his stride, he will bounce back up but he will get at you again and he will get down the wing and that is what excited the fans,” Masefield said.

“In full flight, there are very few footballers that can excite and entertain like Lallianzuala Chhangte, so Chhangte, please keep doing what you do so beautifully,” stated Anant Tyagi.

Mumbai City FC’s player Lalengmawai Ralte feels Chhangte’s speed is his biggest weapon.

“His strength is his speed, he can shoot from distance, and he is very important to us,” stated Ralte.

Mumbai City FC will next take on East Bengal FC on 16th December at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata.
