Mohun Bagan Super Giant head coach Antonio Habas feels they had a lot of time to recover after they conceded two goals against NorthEast United FC in the 15th match week of the ongoing Indian Super League at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday.
Tomi Juric was able to put the Highlanders in front as he converted from the spot kick in the sixth minute of the game. However, the home team equalized as Liston Colaco scored in the stoppage time of half-time.
The extended injury time was made even merrier for the Kolkata giants as Jason Cummins gave his team a lead. But the visitors came bouncing back after half-time as Juric scored his second goal of the night, four minutes into the second half.
However, MBSG once again took the lead as Dimitri Petratos continued his rich form, scoring after three minutes. Sahal Abdul Samad then made sure there was no scope for any late drama as extended the team’s lead by scoring in the 57th minute.
“The energy, the commitment, the attitude were crucial for the win. I think we have a fantastic group and a good team at the moment,” Habas stated in the post-match press conference.
“We had a lot of time to recover from the situation (after conceding early) and score goals. In the first moment, it was very difficult to accept the situation (of being behind) but the team was strong. They believed in our ideas and we didn’t have any problem after that,” Habas explained.
MBSG hasn’t lost a single match since Habas has taken over the reins as coach. The Spaniard added that he would be happy when his team makes it to the final of the tournament.
“When we go the final (I’ll be the happiest). Now it’s normal. This is part of my job. It’s not good when you get too happy upon winning and too angry when you lose. You need to have balance, that’s the secret,” the Spaniard revealed.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant will next take on Odisha FC on Saturday at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneshwar.
