The previous season semifinalists FC Goa are delighted to announce that they have secured the services of Nongdamba Naorem on free transfer ahead of the eighth season of the Hero Indian Super League. The youngster finalised the deal after passing medical and agreeing personal terms.
Nongdamba told fcgoa.in: “Today is a big day. I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in India. It’s a club that I feel is the best fit for me and is one that I have admired for a long time.
“I am now looking forward to understanding what the coach demands from me and scripting a new chapter in my life.”
FC Goa’s Director of Football Ravi Puskur was also delighted after signing Nongdomba Naorem.
He said, “We’re delighted to secure the services of Nongdamba. He’s a highly technical player and has the directness needed in one-on-one situations for a player in his position.
“He caught our eye with his performances for Mohun Bagan in the [Hero] I-League in the 19/20 season and was unlucky to have his season curtailed by injury last year. We feel that he can develop into a player who fits very well into our system and can become a differential player with a real emphasis on providing the end product.”
Meanwhile, Nongdamba spent his last two years in the ISL with Kerala Blasters. During the 2019-20, he played for Mohun Bagan on loan and helped the team win the Hero I-League title. He scored two goals and provided five assists for the Mariners in that successful campaign.
Subsequently, he made three appearances for Kerala Blasters in the previous season of the Hero ISL but an unfortunate injury ruled him out of the remainder of the edition. The winger will be seen donning the 17 number jersey for the Gaurs.
