Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil wants to get the best out of his players in the upcoming season of the Indian Super League. Jamshedpur FC recently extended Khalid Jamil’s contract by two years, which will help him stay with the Men of Steel until the end of the 2025-26 season. The 47-year-old took over the coaching baton from former coach Scott Cooper in the middle of the previous season.
Jamil managed Jamshedpur FC in 10 games, winning three and drawing as many. Furthermore, under Jamil’s tutelage, Jamshedpur FC reached the semifinals of the Kalinga Super Cup by winning all three league stage matches.
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC have won both of their opening matches in the Durand Cup against Chennaiyin FC and Assam Rifles. The Red Miners have scored five goals and conceded a solitary goal.
Speaking about his side’s performance so far, coach Jamil said, “We still have a game left in the group stage, and we are focused on that game. We must try to win the game and finish the group stage with full points.”
“We will analyse and see their strengths and weaknesses; they are a very fit and physical side. We will see both of their matches and plan accordingly,” he further added while speaking about Jamshedpur FC’s final opponent in the group stage, Indian Army FT.
Speaking on his contract extension, “It’s my pleasure to be a part of the Jamshedpur FC family. I am really happy that the management has given me the chance. I must work hard as a coach and pass on the same mentality to the players to give their all for Jamshedpur FC.”
Speaking on the Durand Cup’s importance for the club, coach Jamil said, “The Durand Cup is the oldest and one of the best tournaments currently organized in India. The organization of the tournament has been executed very well and I hope they continue doing so in the upcoming years as well.”
“The Durand Cup is an important tournament for us. We want to give a chance to all the players depending on their availability and field our best combination making sure we don’t compromise on the results,” he further added.
