ISL: Lalengmawia Ralte joins Mohun Bagan Super Giant on five-year deal

Indian Super League runners-up Mohun Bagan Super Giant has signed the services of midfielder Lalengmawia Ralte on a five-year deal. Ralte, known as Apuia, played three seasons with Mumbai City FC and won the ISL Cup and League Shield with the Islanders.

The 23-year-old from Aizwal scored one goal and provided two assists in 22 matches of the Indian Super League 2023-24 season for Mumbai City FC.

The youngster is delighted to join the Mariners ahead of the new season and wants to work hard to get the desired results.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to join Mohun Bagan Super Giant, a club that holds a special place in Indian football history. I am eager to work hard, learn from my Coaches and teammates, and contribute my best to help Mohun Bagan SG achieve its goals. I am grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to step onto the field and give my all for the club and its passionate supporters,” Ralte said.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s newly appointed head coach Jose Molina showered praise on the youngster and he is optimistic that he will do well in the forthcoming season of the ISL

“Apuia is a great reinforcement for our midfield. He has been an important player in the league in recent seasons, becoming an important player as a defensive midfielder in the Indian national team as well. It will help us generate internal competition that will improve team performance,” Mohun Bagan SG head coach Jose Molina said.

Ralte has been rising through the ranks after joining NorthEast United for the 2019-20 ISL season. The youngster will look to continue the upward swing in his career and deliver for the Mariners.
