IS​​L: Panagiotis Dilmperis named Punjab FC head coach for upcoming season

Indian Super League outfit Punjab FC have named Panagiotis Dilmperis as their new head coach for the upcoming season of the tournament. Two weeks ago, the Shers had announced that they would be parting ways with their former coach Staikos Vergetis.

Meanwhile, Konstantinos Katsaras will join Dilmperis as the assistant coach and Papaioannou Ioannis as the strength and conditioning coach.

Dilmperis coached A. E Ermionida FC in the previous season. He has a 15-year coaching experience and has mentored teams like Iraklis Larisas FC, Rochester NY FC, and Panserraikos FC. 

Dilmperis played as a goalkeeper in his playing career of 17 years and had stints with clubs like Iraklis FC and Agrotikos Asteras. Thus, he will look to make the most of his experience and guide the players on the right track.

Meanwhile, Konstantinos Katsaras has the experience of coaching in Greece for almost two decades. Furthermore, Papaionnuu has 10 years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach to strengthen the team.

Speaking about his new assignment Dilmperis said, “I am really excited to start a new journey in India with Punjab FC. It is a great challenge and I look forward to helping the team in achieving its objectives. I am completely aligned with the Club’s vision and can’t wait to start the new season in the new country.

Welcoming Dilmperis and his team to the club, Nikolaos Topoliatis, Football Director, Punjab FC, said, “We are happy to welcome Dilmperis as the Club’s head coach. We are confident in his abilities to help the team compete for all three trophies and develop our young players to help them achieve their maximum potential.”

Punjab FC finished ISL 2023-24 season in eighth place with six wins in 22 matches.
