Jordan Henderson suffered a serious groin injury during the Liverpool vs Everton game earlier this year, which saw his season end for the Merseyside club.
The Liverpool skipper’s availability for the Euros was also in doubt but England have received a major boost as Henderson is fit enough to be named in the squad.
Liverpool managed to secure Champions League qualification as they finished 3rd in a season filled with injuries in key defensive areas which even saw Henderson being deployed as a centre back prior to his injury.
“He will be fine,” Klopp said when quizzed on Henderson’s fitness after the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
“I don’t know if he will be in the squad but he is fine, he trained the last two days with us, he is fine.
“He can return to training as normal – he will be one of the few players in the squad who are fresh which is good news.”
Gareth Southgate is one of the few managers who is yet to announce his squad for the Euros. The English manager will name a 26-man squad for the summer’s extravaganza on Tuesday. Due to the lack of quality options in central midfield, Jordan Henderson has to be a no brainer in the squad.
While Henderson may find his name on the squad list, Liverpool’s star right back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be sweating on his inclusion in the contingent. Despite having a few sensational weeks for his club, Trent may miss the final list for the Euros.
Jordan Henderson’s inclusion in the squad will add a lot of balance to the England squad which needs a leader of his ilk in the dressing room. A midfield three of Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson and Mason Mount looks like the best choice from an England point of view.
The fitness of Henderson brings greater relief to England fans as Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips got injured on the final day of the Premier League season which has put his availability in serious jeopardy.
