Versatile midfielder Paul Ramfangzuava has reached a two year-extension with Indian Super League outfit Odisha FC, the club recently announced. It is a good move considering Paul is young and will only get better.
The 22-year-old who hails from Mizoram joined Odisha FC in 2021 after a stellar campaign with Aizawl FC in the I-League. His vision and his ability to play passes impressed the Odisha team management. Over the years he has made 20 appearances for the Juggernauts and have scored thrice. He is mainly a deep lying playmaker who can also play in amore attacking role in midfield.
The extension will help both the parties as Paul is looking to work on areas that he needs improvement whereas Odisha FC are looking for continuity after a decent ISL season. The team management is pleased with the 22-year-old’s performance and believes in his ability to become one of the best in the coming years. Paul has constantly developed himself in these two seasons and have gradually made a name for himself among the fans.
Odisha FC have always been a club that has promoted young footballers, given them chances to prove their worth in the top league and once again by extending Paul Ramfangzauva’s contract, they have stayed true to their club’s ideology. He is one of many youngsters whom Odisha FC have given a chance to shine at the highest level.
The youngster’s vision and ability to control the tempo of the game makes him special. He has also shown great work-rate in the middle and is gradually looking to score goals and notch up assists every season to be the focal point for the Juggernauts in the coming season. However for now, Paul and Odisha FC will be concerned about the Super Cup.
This was the first time Odisha FC reached the ISL playoffs after finishing sixth in the points table. This was due to ISL’s new rule of six-team playoffs. Odisha Fc eventually lost in the playoff against eventual winners ATK Mohun Bagan. However the management was not happy with Josep Gombau and hence they decided to part ways with him ahead of the Super Cup. It will be interesting to see who fills the void and how the team performs in the upcoming cup tournament.
