Kerala Blasters FC head coach Tomasz Tchorz has stated their approach is to show that they can perform well before the quarter final clash against Mohammedan SC in the Durand Cup. Kerala Blasters FC qualified for the quarter final after winning two out of the four matches in Group D while Mohammedan SC won three matches out of the four games to top Group A.
Both of these teams will take on each other at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on Friday. Mohammedan SC had finished as the runners-up in the previous season and they will be looking to go one step higher.
Tchortz said, “Our approach is to show that we are a team that can perform very well against the team from the I-League. We treat this opportunity as a chance to improve and develop against experienced players. Our approach is to be positive and demand from ourselves.”
“Mohammedan is a team full of experienced players. Their striker, Marcus, has had a really amazing career playing in India so far, playing for Gokulam in the past and now with Mohammedan. They also have really good wingers. But we have our plans on how to play against them.”
On the other hand, Kerala Blasters captain Sachin Suresh is happy with the team’s performance so far in the tournament. The Tuskers won against NorthEast United FC and Army Green while they shared the spoils against Sudeva Delhi but lost against Odisha FC.
“I am happy with my own performances as well as my team’s. My good performance is a consequence of the support I get from my teammates.”
Kerala Blasters FC will look to be at their best in the quarterfinals against the Black Panthers and come up with a collective effort.
