ATK Mohun Bagan star striker Roy Krishna can’t wait to play with Joni Kauko and Hugo Boumous and share the field with them. The talisman feels playing with these two players will help him improve his game.
Krishna feels the club has done a great signing and the addition of Kauko and Boumous will help ATK Mohun Bagan strengthen their team. The Fiji forward feels there is still a lot of work to be done and he wants to keep working hard with his teammates.
“We have made some great signings, the likes of Boumous and Kauko. We have been training for two days [in Kolkata ahead of the AFC Cup] now and we are already gelling. There is a lot of improvement needed but I am really excited.
“I think it [the presence of the above-mentioned duo] will improve my game and improve my football knowledge and the service I will get this season will be unbelievable. Can’t wait to play alongside those boys,” Krishna said on the latest episode of Football United”
Meanwhile, Krishna had earlier extended his contract with the club and he is happy to stay with ATK Mohun Bagan despite receiving a lot of offers from the other club.
“Happy to be back. I think I have made the right decision. You know there were a lot of options but look, I felt really good, felt like I was at home with not the just the club but also the management and the players. So, I’m really happy to be back and can’t wait for the season to start,” he said.
“I would say no [if there were any doubts over his return to ATK Mohun Bagan]. The way we finished the last season …But credit goes to Mumbai City FC, they deserved to win. I will still have the same hunger this season and hopefully we can go on to be a better side.”
Roy had a stellar previous season in the Hero Indian Super League as he scored 14 goals and provided eight assists. ATK will kick off their AFC Cup campaign in Maldives on August 18 and the 33-year old forward feels it will be a huge competition for the club.
“It’s huge. First, we are very fortunate to play in this competition. Every player wants to play in this competition, not just us foreigners but also the local boys. They have this great opportunity to showcase their talent against some big clubs. Really excited, hopefully we can do well in the competition and gain a lot,” Krishna said.
