I-league champions Gokulam Kerala FC have appointed Richard Towa as their new head coach ahead of the next season, the club announced earlier in the week. Towa is a former Cameroon national player and had played 13 matches for the African team.
The 52-year-old is also a Pro-License holder from Germany and thus has good coaching experience. As a player, Towa mostly played in the second division of the Bundesliga.
After his retirement from professional football, Towa decided to earn a coaching license from Germany and has the experience of coaching many German clubs.
Meanwhile, Towa also joined Cameroon’s Under-17 team as a head coach in 2010. Subsequently, he joined the senior team as a technical staff in the 2016-17 edition. Then he went on to coach the Cameroon U23 team for three years.
Towa said it is an honor to join Gokulam Kerala FC and he will make sure the club continues its winning impetus.
“It is an honor to be part of Gokulam Kerala FC. The club is a highly-winning club in Indian football and I want to make sure the winning streaks of the club continue further. This will be a new challenge and I believe we can win more trophies together.”
Gokulam Kerala FC VC Praveen is delighted with the signing of Richard Towa and believes the experienced coach will be able to get the best out of his players.
“The coach is experienced and his strength lies in nurturing youngsters. For us, the motto is to develop talent and at the same time win all the titles. We hope that more youngsters will get a chance in the top flight, we also need a hat-trick of wins in the I-League. We believe Richard Towe is the apt profile for that.”
