Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has named former Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos as his most favourite and difficult opponent to face. Ramos is regarded as one of the best defenders of the current era and always made life difficult for the opposition strikers by getting under their skin.
The Polish striker said on Rio Ferdinand presents via Madrid Xtra, “My most favourite and difficult battle? Against Sergio Ramos. Playing against him was a huge challenge, he was always playing hard and strong. He always wanted to be close to me, and that for me was wow.”
Lewandowski and Ramos faced each other on numerous occasions while respectively playing for Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
The Poland international scored six goals and provided two assists in nine matches against the Los Blancos.
On the other hand, Lewandowski also admitted that it was difficult to play under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola for Bayern Munich.
“As a human, he was difficult for the players, because at the time, he was so brilliant with the football tactics, that he thought, if they follow me, they will win. In later times, I have seen that he has changed.”
“I think he realised that if he is more human and more open, then it can help him more than tactics sometimes.”
“I understand if you’re playing a team that does not have a big chance [to beat you], but if you are playing against a big side. Tactics are important, I don’t want to say they are not, but in my mind, at this level, different things can be decisive between winning and losing.”
Meanwhile, Lewandowski has been in spectacular form in the ongoing La Liga season as he has scored 14 goals and has provided two assists in 13 matches.
