Real Madrid talismanic striker Vinicius Jr. wants to stay at the club forever. The Brazilian forward scored a hat-trick in the Champions League clash against previous runners-up Borussia Dortmund at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
Vini Jr. is the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or, which will be announced on October 28. The 24-year-old found the back of the net in the 62nd, 86th and 93rd minute.
Earlier Vini Jr. had received interest from Saudi Pro League clubs but he decided to stay at Los Blancos.
“I’m still only 24,” Vinícius said. “I want to stay here forever and contribute as much as possible to this team, which has given me everything since I arrived here.”
“[Real Madrid coach Carlo] Ancelotti told me to keep it up, that I can always do more,” he said speaking of his performance. “But we have to improve and play like this from the off, otherwise the coach won’t be able to take it.
“This is our competition and we want to win it again.”
Vinícius scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions for Real Madrid and played a key role in Champions League and La Liga glory.
On the other hand, Lucas Vázquez, who captained Madrid on Tuesday, showered praise on the Brazilian for his impressive show in the second half.
“Vini Jr. had an unbelievable second half,” Vázquez said. “It’s one to show the kids so they understand how football should be played, with that intensity and the hunger to go after the goals. He’s shown yet again that he’s the most decisive player in the world, he had an unbelievable second half.”
Madrid will next take on arch-rivals Barcelona on Sunday and Vinicius Jr. is looking forward to the all-important clash.
“We’re going all out,” Vinícius said. “It’s on home turf with our fans. We’re going to fight for everything this season, as always.”
