Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera feels they gained a point and didn’t lose two after their 1-1 draw against defending champions Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai in the Indian Super League on Sunday.
Roy Krishna scored for the Kalinga Warriors in the 14th minute whereas Nikos Karelis scored the equalizer for the home team after nine minutes but the second half went goalless. Odisha FC had 45.5% possession and took two shots on target.
“When you are trying to win and you get just one point, it is not the best result,” Lobera remarked in the post-match press conference. “But you need to analyse the game. My feeling is that we gained one point more than we lost two”
The Spaniard showered praise on the opposition but feels his players gave their best effort.
“We played against a very good team. My feeling is (that) my players made an amazing effort. Today, we got that one point, and for that, we must congratulate the players for their effort today,” he added.
Meanwhile, Odisha FC have won two, drawn two, and lost as many out of the six matches they have played in the 11th edition of the tournament. Lobera’s men are currently in seventh place in the ISL standings and will look to come up with a better show in the upcoming matches.
Odisha FC will next take on NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati on Sunday.
