Following the lockdown in the country due to the pandemic spread of the COVID-19, the India Hockey Women’s team has made a kind gesture to donate Rs.20,01,130 to help feed the poor and workers on migration whose means of living has been cut short due to spread of the coronavirus across the country. This donation is with the hope that it will feed over a thousand families.
The Indian based team made an effort to launch an 18-day fitness challenge, which kicked off the 17th of last month (April) to raise funds for charity as the 18-day challenge is for the sole purpose of crowdfunding to support the leading cause.
Furthermore, the reason is to motivate people to make use of the opportunity to get used to a prompt lifestyle while the country is in lockdown; however, this came to an end on Sunday, 3rd of May 2020.
Captain of the Women’s Hockey team Rani revealed that the response received was incredibly amazing as people moat, especially fans and lovers of Indian Hockey nationwide, partook in the challenge and made contributions for the purpose which it was supposed to serve.
“My appreciation goes to everyone who got involved in one way or the other to render help to the poor. It was lovely to see hockey fans, legends, units, and ex-hockey players showing their support as they took part and believed in what we did. On behalf of my teammates, I say a huge thank you to everyone. We love you”.
