The Indian shooters have ran riot at the ISSF Shooting World Cup as they have won multiple medals in different categories and collectively the Indian have been excellent at the big stage.
The success of the Indian shooters caught the eye of the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju who was delighted with the performance at such a big stage. Rijiju firmly believes that the Indian shooters will do good at the Tokyo Olympics.
“I am very happy with the ongoing ISSF World Cup as we are number one, leading the medal tally. I congratulate all the athletes who won at this World Cup and also the ones who have qualified for the Olympics. The shooting team will perform very well in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics,” Rijiju told ANI, sharing his delight on the matter.
India had a great day as Chinki Yadav clinched Gold at the women’s 25m pistol event with India coming up with a rare clean sweep as Rani Sarnobat secured the Silver with Manu Bhaker winning the Bronze. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar also did not disappoint the Indian shooting fans as he bagged the Gold medal at the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. The 20-year-old got the better of Hungarian shooting star Istvan Peni in the finals to clinch the prestigious medal. India’s other two participants Sanjeev Rajput finished sixth while Niraj Kumar finished at the eighth spot.

The India shooters have done well at the Skeet as well as Indian pair of Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Ganemat Sekhon won the gold medal at the Mixed Skeet Team category. The hosts defeated Kazakhstan 33-29 in the final and finished it off by clinching the prestigious Gold. Indian veteran Sanjeev Rajput, who topped the qualifications, had a disappointing performance which saw him finish sixth while another Indian finalist Niraj Kumar finished eighth.
Before this, the Indian shooters also added three Gold Medals on Monday and after this onslaught, they are currently leading the medal leaderboard with a total of nine Gold medals at the big-ticket event.
