“WFI officials are offering money and pressurizing wrestlers to take back complaints,” Bajrang Punia reveals on third day of the protest

Top Indian wrestlers continue to protest against the former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and recent updates suggest that the WFI are pressuring the female wrestlers to withdraw their complaints during the third day of protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Bajrang Punia, who is an Olympic medallist and ace wrestler has revealed that Dronacharya awardee coach Mahavir Bishnoi and Haryana Wrestling Federation Secretary Rakesh Singh are pressuring these wrestlers and are asking their families to withdraw the complaints against the former WFI chief.

“The victims are being pressurised by Mahavir Bishnoi, who is a Dronacharya Awardee coach, and Haryana Wrestling Federation secretary Rakesh Singh. They are going to the families and threatening them to take back the complaint,” Bajrang Punia revealed in an interaction with the media.

Bajrang also revealed that the mastermind behind all of these actions is none other than Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh himself. Things are happening on his directive as per the Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist.

The veteran grappler revealed that the WFI people are taking money to the wrestlers’ houses and are pressuring them to withdraw. There is a lot of safety issue regarding the entire scenario and he holds the government and the police force responsible for all of this.

“I do not know how this has happened but the girls who have complained are being pressured. WFI officials are taking money to their homes. If something happens to those girls, the police, and government will be responsible for this,” Bajrang added.

Vinesh Phogat has also reiterated the same as she revealed that the people kept a check on them and reached their homes during the January protests aswell. She also revealed that Mahavir Bishnoi had threatened her for sharing her complaints with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“This is not the first time they are resorting to these kinds of tactics. During the protest in January, people had scouted our houses and kept a check on this,” Vinesh told The Bridge. “Mahavir Bishnoi has threatened me also during the Tokyo Olympics as I had complained about him to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea from the wrestlers regarding their accusations against the former WFI chief. They have told the Police to be ready for a reply in front of the court on April 28.

On the third day of the protest, the support for the wrestlers have intensified as Khap panchayats, politicians like Brinda Karat and Bhoopinder Hooda have also come in support of the wrestlers.
