Hyderabad Black Hawks captain Vipul Kumar has stated that it is exciting to lead the young team in the ongoing Prime Volleyball League.
Hyderabad had made a winning start to their PVL 2022 campaign as they had won the season opener against Kochi Blue Spikers.
Hyderabad Black Hawks will look to continue their good start as they will face Ahmedabad Defenders at the Gochibowli Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday.
Vipul Kumar said that he will look to get the best out of the young players and feels there won’t be any issues as the players are fit.
“The team has several young players, so it can be challenging to bring them together and move forward. But I don’t think there will be a problem with the young lot, as they are fit and high on confidence,” he said.
“Captaincy comes with its share of responsibilities. I’m playing along with guys who are younger and less experienced, and they look up to me. Captaincy has helped me inculcate more discipline in my life,” he stated.
Vipul, who is a setter, added that the captaincy role comes naturally to him as he sets the ball for his teammates.
“A setter’s job is to lead the team on court, so leading the team comes naturally to me, but now that I have been handed the captaincy officially, it is exciting to lead the whole team. I’m sure it will be fun.”
Meanwhile, there are 15 points in each set in the ongoing PVL and Vipul believes it will benefit the players. Speaking on the same, Vipul said, “It’s interesting and it will also benefit us when we play the traditional format because you learn to fetch more points in less time. If you are able to win 15 points in a short span of time, you will also be able to cover 25 points in less time automatically.”
