The top 32 seeds have been announced for the upcoming Wimbledon Championship. The World No.1 Novak Djokovic will be the top seed for the event whereas Russia’s Daniil Medvedev will take the second seed in the event.
Eight-time champion Roger Federer will take the seventh seed. Djokovic and Federer are in the same draw and could potentially meet in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Federer isn’t in the best of forms as he recently lost in the second round of Halle against Canadan 20-year old Felix Auger Aliassime and thus it is going to be challenging for Federer to go all the way in the event.
However, taking Federer’s remarkable record at Wimbledon, it is not easy to rule him out of title contention.
As Rafael Nadal has decided to withdraw from Wimbledon, French Open runners-up Stefanos Tsitsipas has taken the third seed for Wimbledon. Austria’s Dominic Thiem is given the fourth seed but the 27-year old has been ruled out of the tourney due to wrist injury, which he suffered while playing the first round match at Mallorca Open.
Meanwhile, two-time champion Novak Djokovic will be chasing his 20th Major title and if he goes on to win it, he will equal Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s slam tally. As Nadal has pulled out of the tournament and Federer is still not at the top of his game, it will be a perfect opportunity for Novak Djokovic to create history.
