The sixth game of the first conference round will be a do or die match for the LA Lakers as they are trailing by 3-2 against the Phoenix Suns. One more loss will mean that the title defence hopes will be over the Lakers. Furthermore, the Lakers are unlikely to be without the services of their talisman Anthony Davis, who suffered a groin injury in the fourth match of the series.
LA Lakers linchpin LeBron James will hold the onus on his shoulders and he will need to bring his best to the table if the team has to go past the Suns. James’ former teammate Damon Jones feels the LA Lakers will be okay with or without Anthony Davis as they have got the Akron Hammer.
James will need to step up his game and we have seen in the past that he has brought his best to the table in must-win matches. The talisman will need to deliver the goods but there is no doubt that he will need support from Kyle Kuzma and Dennis Schroder.
“Yes, for him, because he has never been in this position. But I am gonna tell you one thing, he is going to be ready to play tomorrow night, the mentality he is gonna play with tomorrow is one may AD plays or doesn’t play because he understands their backs are against the wall.”
“If he is able to go out and do what I have seen him do in the past in big games like tomorrow will be, I think the Lakers will be okay with or without Anthony Davis,” said Jones in a podcast.
The sixth game of the series will be played on Thursday night and the Lakers will have a big task at hand.
