The LA Lakers played their last match of the regular season against the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers lost the match by 136-122 with Buddy Hield top-scoring for the Kings with 28 points. However, the result of the match didn’t have any effect on either of the teams.
Lakers star Anthony Davis didn’t take any part in the match whereas their other big player, LeBron James featured only for 14 minutes. During his short game time, James scored 17 points, three rebounds and four assists. Thus, the King officially ended the regular reason as the assists’ leader.
This is for the first time that LeBron James has achieved the landmark in his illustrious career of 17 years. He has averaged 10.2 assists per game in 67 games he has played in the 2019-20 season. In fact, James’ previous best was 9.1 assists per game back in the 2017-18 season, which was his final season with Cleveland.
Along with the assists, James has scored with an average of 25.3 points per game and has come up with 7.8 rebounds per game in the ongoing season. Thus, the Superstar player has ticked the right boxes for the LA Lakers and has come up with an all-round performance for his team.
During his formative years with Cavaliers, LeBron James was solely carrying the team on his shoulders. He had a breakthrough 2007-08 season in which he went on to score 30 points per game to finish at the top of the points table and catch all the eyeballs.
Since then, James has been a consistent performer in the NBA and he is regarded as one of the best players in the league. The LA Lakers will hope that the small forward continues his sublime form in the playoff stages.
The LA Lakers will play their conference first round match on 19th August against an opponent which is yet to be confirmed.
