LA Lakers talisman LeBron James and Anthony Davis have always played a key role in the success of the team. However, the ongoing season has been a tough one for the defending champions due to injury woes to crucial players including James and Davis.
Anthony Davis played for 19 minutes in the fourth game of the series against Phoenix Suns before he was seen withering in pain due to his groin soreness. Davis scored six points, four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. He was struggling once again just like he did in the first match with an accuracy of 22.2%. The Lakers lost the fourth match of the series by 100-92 on Sunday night.
James feels it is a tough blow for them if Davis is ruled but he is confident that he can take the extra responsibility on his shoulders.
James said after the match, “If he’s not ready for Game 5, it’s going to be a tough blow for our ball club. But next man up. We have been like that all year.”
“These shoulders were built for a reason,” he said. “So, if it takes for me to put some more on top of it, then so be it. Win, lose or draw, I’m ready for the challenge.”
James scored 25 points for the Lakers and he was the only Lakers player to score in double-digits but his efforts went in vain. On the other hand, Suns comeback man Chris Paul scored 18 points, nine assists and three steals to take his team to a much-needed win and draw the series 2-2.
Meanwhile, Kyle Kuzma feels the Lakers will need to play a different style of Basketball if Davis fails to regain his fitness.
Kuzma said, “If AD’s not out there, we have to play a different style of basketball.”
The fifth game of the series will be played on Tuesday night.
