TDW34N South Africa's David Miller leaves the field after being dismissed during the ICC Cricket World Cup group stage match at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
South African captain Temba Bavuma has said he always wanted to send David Miller up the order. Miller was in fine form in the recently concluded Tata IPL 2022 and played an instrumental role in the success of the team.
The left-hander mostly batted at number five for Gujarat Titans and scored 481 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 68.71 and a strike rate of 142.72.
As Miller is high on confidence, Temba Bavuma will be looking to make the most of his good form in the upcoming five-match T20I series against India.
Miller had added the finishing touches for Gujarat Titans and he will look to continue the good form for his national team. The left-hander was at his best for the Hardik Pandya-led and he will look to continue the same.
“The conversation has always been there on David going up the batting order and facing a lot more balls and having the opportunity to be a lot more destructive. He knows where he fits within our team, the role he plays within the team…something he has played quite well. But if the opportunity is there to give David a lot more balls to face, I am sure it will be something that will be considered,” Bavuma said ahead of the first game.
There is no doubt that this was Miller’s best season in the IPL and he batted at the top of his game. Miller has the skills to turn the match on its head and he will look to deliver the goods for the Proteas.
On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada is also going to hold the key in the bowling line-up. Rabada scalped 23 wickets in 14 matches for Punjab Kings in the recently concluded Tata IPL 2022 and finished as the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
The first T20I between India and South Africa will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on June 9 and both teams will look to bring their best to the table.
