India will square off against Bangladesh in the opening Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai from Thursday onwards. The match will be played on a red soil pitch and the track will offer bounce and carry, with the reverse swing also expected to come into the picture.
India will look to make of their home conditions and the batters will also need to pull up their socks. The Indian batters have been averaging 33.40 since 2021 in the home conditions and thus they need to deliver as a unit.
On the other hand, Bangladesh are high on confidence after their 2-0 win against Pakistan. The Tigers will look to come up with a collective show against the Indian juggernauts.

Shakib Al Hasan needs eight wickets to complete 250 scalps in the Test format. The left-hander also needs four fours to complete 550 boundaries in the pristine form of the game.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz needs eight fours to complete 200 boundaries in the red-ball version.
Mushfiqur Rahim needs 108 runs to reach the 6000-run mark whereas he needs four more boundaries to complete 700 fours in Test cricket.
