It was two days of thrilling action in the IPL 2022 mega auction as INR 551.7 crores were spent by the 10 teams on 204 players.
Out of these 204 players, 67 were overseas players who were bought in the mega auction. Consequently, the IPL 2022 season will be a different one as 10 teams will take part and we will see players turn out for different franchises for the first time in their respective IPL career.
We will take a look at the full squads for four IPL teams – Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Mumbai Indians broke the bank for Ishan Kishan as they spent a whopping amount of INR 15.25 crores, making him the most expensive player of this auction. The five-time champions also roped in Tymal Mills and Jofra Archer, who will be available from IPL 2023.

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings continued with their philosophy of investing in experience. CSK bought back players like Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo but they didn’t bid for Suresh Raina, who went unsold in the auction. They also purchased Deepak Chahar for huge amount of INR 14 crores.

Kolkata Knight Riders were able to rope in Shreyas Iyer, (INR 12.25 crores) who is expected to lead them in the upcoming season. The two-time champions were also able to get the services of Pat Cummins, Tim Southee, Alex Hales and Sam Billings.
KKR squad: Batters: Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh, Abhijeet Tomar, Pratham Singh. Alex Hales, Ramesh Kumar, Aman Hakim Khan.
Wicketkeepers: Sheldon Jackson, Baba Indrajith, Sam Billings.
Allrounders: Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Sunil Narine, Ankul Roy, Mohammad Nabi.
Bowlers: Varun Chakravarthy, Rasik Salam, Shivam Mavi, Pat Cummins, Chamika Karunaratne, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Ashok Kumar.
Sunrisers Hyderabad went hard for Nicholas Pooran in the auction and he can add value in the middle order. Hyderabad were also able to get Aiden Markram, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
