The five-time champions Mumbai Indians will take on 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 65th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday. Sunrisers Hyderabad is all but knocked out of the playoff stages as their NRR is in the negative and they can get to a maximum of 14 points if they win their last two league stage matches.
On the other hand, MI had become the first team to be knocked out of the playoff race. It has been a forgettable season for the Rohit Sharma-led team as they have managed only three wins. If MI win their last two matches, they might not end as the wooden spooners if CSK lose their last league stage game against Rajasthan Royals.
Meanwhile, SRH has lost its last five matches after winning five matches on the trot. Thus, the Kane Williamson-led team has veered off the track after performing consistently. Their bowling, which is their strength, hasn’t been up to the mark in the last few matches whereas the batting unit has failed to come up with a collective effort. The poor form of their skipper Kane Williamson is also a major concern for the team.
Mumbai Indians had won their previous match against Chennai Super Kings by five wickets. The bowling was right on the money as they had skittled out the opposition at 97 and then Tilak Varma had shown good maturity to get his team over the line.
Match Prediction: Sunrisers Hyderabad might enter the contest as favorites against depleted Mumbai Indians.
