Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings will kick off their Indian Premier League 2023 show against defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 31st March. CSK had a terrible run in the previous season as they managed only four wins in 14 matches and they will be looking to turn the tables in the upcoming edition.
Once again MS Dhoni will hog the limelight for CSK. Many cricket boffins reckon that this could be Dhoni’s swansong season for the Chennai Super Kings and if it turns out to be, then the master has done great justice to the franchise.
Chennai had brought players like Ajinkya Rahane, and Ben Stokes in the auction. Furthermore, they have roped in Sisanda Magala as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson.
Strengths:
One of the biggest strengths of Chennai Super Kings has been the leadership qualities of MS Dhoni, which puts them two steps ahead of the opposition. The team also has experienced players in the squad, which plays a big part in the crunch matches.
Weaknesses:
While CSK has spinners like Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, and Maheesh Theekshana, they don’t have enough muscle in their pace battery. Deepak Chahar will return after missing the previous season due to injur but there is no experience in the fast bowling unit. Furthermore, Dwayne Bravo has also announced his retirement from the IPL.
CSK PROBABLE PLAYING XI: Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni (c) (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Mukesh Choudhary, Maheesh Theekshana.
