Rajasthan Royals rising star Riyan Parag admitted he still has a lot to improve and he is not batting at his absolute best. Parag, who has been in fine form, scored another impressive knock of 77 runs off 49 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday in the run-chase of 202 but they lost by one run.
Parag added 134 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal after RR lost two early wickets of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson but they veered off the track in the last five overs. RR could only manage 43 runs in the last five overs and lost four wickets.
When Parag and Jaiswal were going strongly, RR was cruising in the run-chase but their dismissals tilted the game in SRH’s favor.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Parag said, “I got a lot of areas to improve. I am not in my best form, I would have finished the game otherwise. I got a lot of areas to perfect. I try to learn from my mistakes and not repeat them. Is it my best innings? No. I would say that if I get a hundred,”
“It is never good to end on the losing side. We did a lot of things right. We will focus on more rather than dwelling on our mistakes. We are at a good position in the points table. Just one bad game I guess. We made a few errors in two-three overs and it cost us the game. That is how T20 is, IPL is,” the right handed batsman added.
Parag has scored 409 runs at an average of 58.43 and a strike rate of 159.14 in 10 matches of the ongoing IPL 2024, including four fifties.
The right-hander from Assam has taken giant strides in the ongoing season and has looked like a different batter altogether.
Rajasthan Royals will next take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Tuesday.
