Former England captain Eoin Morgan has tipped Virat Kohli as one of the greatest cricketers of the modern era. Kohli has performed consistently in all three formats and has done a magnificent job at the top level.
The talisman missed the five-match Test series against England due to a personal reason and will now return to action in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Morgan, who led England to glory in the 2019 World Cup, revealed how Royal Challengers Bangalore can get the best out of Kohli in the upcoming IPL.
“I highly regard him as one of the greatest of the modern era, across all three formats. When you have a player of that calibre in your side, it’s crucial that you’re constantly asking him to get the best out of himself because with that brings a huge ceiling, as we’ve seen in the past. The level of inspiration and intensity that he brings lifts everybody within the group,” Morgan said on JioCinema.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored 639 runs for the franchise in the previous season but the team failed to qualify for the playoffs as they finished in sixth place with seven wins and as many losses.
Kohli has amassed 7263 runs in 237 IPL matches at an average of 37.25 and a strike rate of 130.02, including seven centuries and he is the highest run-getter in the history of the tournament.
Furthermore, Kohli finished the ODI World Cup 2023 as the highest run-getter with 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.32. Ergo, he was awarded Player of the tournament for his consistent performances.
On the other hand, RCB has qualified for the final of the IPL on three occasions but has failed to go all the way.
