India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 8th October. Team India will enter the World Cup as red-hot favorites as they will be playing in their own conditions and will aim to end their major ICC title hoodoo.
The Rohit Sharma-led team recently won their eighth Asia Cup title and also defeated Australia by 2-1 in a home bilateral series. The hosts come into the World Cup with their players in prime form and they will look to come up with a collective effort.
Players like Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj are in top form and they would want to carry on a good show in the ODI showpiece. In fact, the team management will have selection headaches as players like Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Ishan Kishan have also grabbed their chances.
