Yash Dhull launched his name into the limelight after leading India to a wonderful U19 World Cup victory in West Indies recently. Since then, Dhull has only gone from strength to strength. He got his first IPL contract when Delhi Capitals bought him for INR 50 lakhs during the IPL 2022 mega auction.
The youngster has also taken the Ranji Trophy by storm and has notched up centuries with ease. Ahead of what promises to be an exciting IPL season, Dhull has revealed that he wants to meet former Indian captain Virat Kohli who also hails from Delhi. Kohli had also captained the Indian U19 team to glory in 2008 in Malaysia. Since then, he has established as one of the greatest batters of all time and Dhull wants to take tips from him.
“I am eager to meet Virat bhaiya. He has been my inspiration. I have always idolized him. I want to interact with him and take a lot of tips from him. I want to ask him how he bats in crunch and high-pressure games, how he manages to control his mind, and how he took his fitness to another level,” Dhull said recently, as reported by Sportskeeda.
“I have led the Under-19 team but the way Virat bhaiya handled his team and players was amazing. I want to ask him how he managed his team and ensured his players stay pressure-free so that they can put in their best performances,” he added.
Fresh from his exploits in the U19 World Cup, Yash Dhull created first-class history in the Ranji Trophy. He smashed twin century in both innings of his first-class debut while playing for Delhi against Tamil Nadu and also hit an unbeaten double century against Chandigarh.
Punjab Kings were also involved in the race for Yash Dhull before Delhi Capitals won the bid. Dhull also idolizes his Capitals captain Rishabh Pant and is excited to play and learn under his leadership. Pant’s energy on the field is something that Dhull idolizes.
“Rishabh bhaiya is a great motivator and a very good captain. I want to learn the nuances of a leadership role from him. He is so energetic on the field. The way he enjoys his game and keeps motivating and encouraging his teammates from behind the wickets is amazing.” Dhull said.
