ISL 2021-22: Top 3 goal-scorers of league stage

With the league stage of the Hero Indian Super League done and dusted, Jamshedpur FC, Hyderabad FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Kerala Blasters will shift their focus to the semifinal stages. Jamshedpur FC clinched the Hero ISL Winners Shield after they won 13 matches out of the 20 matches. Thus, Owen Coyle’s team finished with 43 points, which is the most in the league stage of Hero ISL.

Meanwhile, we take a look at the top three goalscorers of the league stage, who played a key role in the success of the team.

 

1. Bartholomew Ogbeche, 17 goals in 17 matches – The Nigerian striker continued to impress in the Hero ISL. Ogbeche has played a key role in helping Hyderabad FC qualify for the semifinal stages as scored 17 goals in as many matches. Hyderabad FC finished the league stage at second place with 11 wins from 20 matches and had 38 points under their bag.
2. Igor Angulo, 10 goals in 19 matches – Once again it is not surprising to note Igor Angulo is among the top goal scorers of the league stage. Angulo has continued to impress in the Hero ISL and he is making the most of his experience in the tournament.

The Spanish footballer found the back of the net on 10 occasions in 19 matches for the reigning champions Mumbai City FC. However, despite Angulo’s fine performance, the Islanders were knocked out of the tournament as they finished in fifth place after nine wins from 20 matches and could only manage 31 points.

3. Greg Stewart, 10 goals in 19 matches – Greg Stewart played a key role in helping Jamshedpur FC finish at the top of the points table as he netted 10 goals in 19 matches.

The Men of Steel finished at the numero uno position with 13 wins from 20 matches. Furthermore, the forward provided 10 assists in the league and thus he leads in the number of assists list in the league stage in Hero ISL 2021-22.
